11 Montessori Activities for Toddlers Who Only Want Screens
The tablet is all they want. First thing in the morning, after nap, after meals, all day, every day. You try to take it away and the meltdown is nuclear. You try to offer alternatives and they're rejected in three seconds. The screen has trained their brain to expect instant, high-stimulation entertainment, and everything else feels boring by comparison. You're not competing with boredom. You're competing with dopamine.
You can't out-stimulate a screen. But you can offer activities that provide enough sensory engagement, enough novelty, and enough satisfaction that the gap between screen and activity narrows. These won't replace the screen overnight. But they start closing the distance.
1. Water Play (High Engagement)

3. Playdough With Novel Tools
